Under the Bed

Time to check for monsters under the bed ~

When I was a little kid, I was the messiest kind around. There was not a single part of my room that was organized. Cleaning for me meant, “make sure there’s at least a path from the door to your bed” and if my parents were going to be extra picky about my room then EVERYTHING went underneath the bed. Out of sight out of mind, right?

Unfortunately, that habit has carried on with me into my adulthood. However, it’s not as bad as I thought! See how I sorted through everything and organized it just a little bit more.

Items under my bed included:

  • UGG rain boots
  • Star Wars waffle maker
  • Star Wars headphones
  • 3 framed paintings
  • Plastic bin with stuff
  • Plastic bin with keepsakes
  • Baby Zero from Disneyland
  • Yoga mat
  • Fossil watch holder
  • Michael Kors jewelry box
  • Scrapbook paper
  • Scrapbook box
  • Box of more keepsakes
  • Paper cutter

So, like I said – it wasn’t horrible but it still needed to be sorted. I first started with what I knew could go right to donations.

The pillows(found after picture was taken) I knew to donate right away. I liked having them for my bed because I liked the aesthetic of having multiple pillows. Soon after though, I realized that I didn’t need them and 80% of the time I never put them back on my bed because I was too lazy to do it.

The yoga mat was an easy one to toss into donations as well. I purchased it dirt cheap a few years ago thinking it would push me to do yoga but sadly that never happened.

Some other items that went into the donation pile were stuffed animals I had received throughout the years. While they had sentimental value and memories, I had no use for them anymore and they needed to go make someone else happy.

I went through one of the plastic bins and found a bunch of just random things I had saved throughout the years as well. Needless to say, it all went to the garbage or recycling and the bin was donated.

Next I moved items to their rightful place. The waffle maker was an easy one to figure out. I still used and wanted it. (Helloooo! Who doesn’t want stormtrooper waffles!?) That was then placed in the kitchen where it belongs. The UGG boots I took out of their box and made space in my closet for them – that’s where Zero came from. He had to go to donations to make space for the boots. Last was the Michael Kors box. I still wanted the jewelry inside and there was no sense in keeping the box anymore. The earrings I had went with the rest of my jewelry and the box went into recycling.

Leftover were my scrapbook supplies, some keepsakes that I absolutely could not throw away, and the paintings. Now I know what you’re thinking. “Why are you saving the paintings if you’re not going to hang them up?” I do plan to! They unfortunately don’t fit the theme of my room but once I have a place of my own and decorate more freely, they’ll be hung with care☺️

All of these are currently back under my bed as I have no other place to put them at this time. But who knows what the future holds! With more cleaning and decluttering, I may be able to find them a new home.
